4th August 1917  War Diary Entry - Belgian Chateau:
Work as for night 2-3 but carried out by day. No interference by enemy who confined his fire to back area. Our medium artillery were firing short their shell bursting behind our front line - this continued despite of signals from the front line. At noon five German planes flew up and down our line of trench, the lower but a few hundred feet high which fired his M.G into the working parties. In response to signals from these planes a heavy barrage was opened on our line and tracks back and the Cos. had to be withdrawn.

Killed in action Sgt Williams 45284. (source)
Albert is listed in the memorial at Ypres (Menin Gate) France Panel 22

The Menin Gate is one of four memorials to the missing in Belgian Flanders which cover the area known as the Ypres Salient. Broadly speaking, the Salient stretched from Langemarck in the north to the northern edge in Ploegsteert Wood in the south, but it varied in area and shape throughout the war.  The memorial now bears the names of more than 54,000 officers and men whose graves are not known. The memorial, designed by Sir Reginald Blomfield with sculpture by Sir William Reid-Dick, was unveiled by Lord Plumer 24 July 1927.
